glosor.eu

Hi everyone!

I would like to tell you about a website called glosor.eu. This website is a good resource for student to practice their vocabulary in a varying way. Both students and the teacher can make their own set of words to practice on. Because you make your own list of words at glosor.eu, it can be used for different ages.

How does it work?

This recourse is free, so I suggest that you make an account. There are two types of accounts, one for students and one for teachers. The only difference in the two types of accounts is that the account for teachers let you manage your groups with students and your exercises. As a Teacher you can work with other teachers that are using glosor.eu.

There are nine different types of games you can play and at the same time learn some new words. The different games are:

- A car game – Hit the right word with your care to get points.

- Memory

- Match words

- Bow game – Point your bow to the right word.

- Hangman – Figure out the right word by typing a letter.

- The train game – click on the right word in the train.

- Mahjong – Match the words

- Sort the letters

- Answer the question right

With the different types of games the students get variety in studying and they still get the repetition needed to learn the words.

How can it be used by teachers?

Teachers can make their own groups with students and they can make their own list of words that they want the students to practice on, you can lock the exercise by choosing a password so that only members in your group and students that have got the password can do the exercise. You can make your own tests and exercises to print out for the students to do in class. By connecting with other teachers you can share your work and ideas and use each other’s lists and exercises.

How can it be used by students?

If the students do not want to become a member they still can do their teachers exercises by typing the password that the teacher chose. By going through the different types of games the students will get repetition of the words that they need to learn. Students can also make their own lists of words to practice, maybe they are struggling with some words and need some extra exercise.

Other considerations

Glosor. eu is available as an application for your Smartphone, it costs 15 SEK to download it. Of course you cannot assume that your students have a smartphone, but they should know it is available if they want to have it. There is a very good explanation of how the website works step by step here http://s.glosor.eu/funktioner-for-larare-v2.pdf . Otherwise you will find this website at http://glosor.eu/ .

Get started!

Best Regards

Cecilia Jansson
