Some time
ago Apple promoted a computer hand able enough to bring with you wherever you
went. This made it possible to use a computer without making it complicated, you
get access to everything anywhere and it can easily fit in your suitcase. With
this you can watch movies, write essays, surf the internet, editing photos and
many other possibilities.
What you need to make it work:
There are
many schools in United States already using it for educational meaning and
Sweden are not far behind. The economy and budget grounds is what stands in the
way for exploring the educational development of this. Otherwise just a simple
touch from your fingers will get you started!
How to use by teachers:
You can do
follow ups on pupils work, communicate and have more open conversations with
your pupils. You can be reachable in a different kind of way, and be of assistance
if a student has trouble with an assignment or task. As well as you easily can
examine each assignment brought to you.
How to use by pupils:
This
product can be used by children in different ages and can absolutely be of an
asset even for smaller children in the age of 3-5. The use of this product
makes it easy for pupils to communicate with each other as well as their
teacher. They can keep in touch and gain more control over what tasks that will
follow there previous work.
Other considerations:
You should
have under consideration that, as with other computers or technical things were
grownups don’t have the control over what the pupils does. Be certain to secure
the I-pads from ingoing threats and have an information meeting with your
pupils about the risks necessary and preventions.

Hello Anja!
ReplyDeleteI picked your blog post because I think iPad is/could be a useful tool in schools. I chose to write about using smartphones as a ICT resource in my own blog post so I believe we are on the same track.
I think your blog post is easy to read and constructed very good. It's easy to understand what you are writing about. You are naming many different ways of using iPads, like for watching movies or writing essays, but what I would like is maybe some kind of examples on “apps” that the pupils could use.
You wrote that the budget for using iPads in schools could be a problem. How do you think the school could finance it? The schools now days doesn’t even have the money for buying computers. Realistic speaking, how long do you think it would take before schools could start using iPads as a ICT resource?
I was also wondering if you have considered how many iPads the every class should have? Should each and every pupil have their own or should each class have one to share? What difference is there between using an iPad and a regular computer? I am trying to think of pros and cons about using iPads, but I think if all these question could be answered there is many good things about using it in schools.
I think your considerations about securing the iPads is good. I believe there is the same problem by using computers in schools.
I think you've done a great job and I believe there is a bright future for iPads in schools. But we also need to think about that children needs real books and write by themselves as well, technology is good in some extent.

Hi Anja,
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading your blog post about IPads. It was well written and easy to grasp. I was interested in your blog post because my post is about an app for Ipads and i believe Ipads and other tablets similar to it will be used in most schools in a few years.
One of the schools I have worked on had 20 IPads and they were shared between 150 children. They were mostly used for reading and writing education in the classes for six- and seven-year-olds. The IPad was used as a reading and writing device and not as much a communicative device like you write about. To make it a communicative device every child will need one and I think that would be very hard to finance.
I agree with you and Sofie about the security issues that comes with using the web. When you have got the app that you need the internet function can be switched off and the limitations are greater.
A interesting read!

First, thank you for information and good work :D
ReplyDeleteI picked your blog post because I’m not sure about iPad can be a useful tool in schools, or not.
When I was reading your post, I enjoyed. Reading your post is easy and informative. I just want to write something about iPad…
In Turkey, educational system has changed for 2 years. ICT based education Project that called FATIH was initiated. There are alot of argument about this Project. According to some researchers, this project is chaotic and ambitious outcomes in terms financial and educational principles but government is very keen on applying this Project. According to Ministry of Education in Turkey, this Project can provide equal opportunities in education and it can improve technology in schools. In this Project, all schools will be equipped with ICT equipment like as İPAD and smart board etc... İPAD can be more beneficial to teach or learn something more easily but at same time it can be useless, too. Students can reach knowledge just simple a touch, in technological era everyone has to know to using basic information and communication technologies; they can improve themselves about e-learning and development of the e-context. But I think that, educational Technologies especially İPAD have some negative effects. Last year in Turkey, there was a school which is pilot scheme for FATIH Project, İPADs were distributed all students. A week later, some students sold their İPAD, some of them download a lot of games and they always tried to play games in class; a lot of students could not manage to use it as a book etc. Actually, these points are negative but I think that they are not very important. More important point is that always using some technologies like İPAD, will prevent communication with student-student or student-teacher. And İPADs are caused too much radiation and it can be more dangerous for all of us. Maybe you can write more something about positive or negative effects of İPAD. Or, actually I wonder that are there special software for education in İPAD or students and teachers should it as a laptop… But thank you, because I’m against the FATIH project and I do not support it, but your thoughts help me to think about being more and more objective.
